BIOGRAPHY

Celia is one of the premier singers to come out of Birmingham. From the tender age of nine Celia started to perform in the church the family attended, she often speaks of the shock on peoples faces when she started to belt out song after song from such a small frame.

Celia joined her first band at the age of fourteen, performing for the first time with a band at the infamous Ridgeway club Soho Road Handsworth. As nerve wrecking as it was, the band went down a storm giving Celia a taste of what she could achieve with the right support. Over the years Celia has been in the background supporting and doing backing vocals for a number of UK artists, however, she decided to put out some of the material she has been writing, performing and covering, which led to her first album in 2008 titled; “MANY MOODS OF CELIA STAR”. The album included the hits Unexpected Places and Keisha Coles, I Remember. In 2010 Celia teamed up with producer Louie Brookes of Eye to Eye Productions to release her second album “HEAVENLY”, which is available on iTunes and various other online stores.

Over the years Celia has gained the respect from numerous musicians, engineers and singers who have all commented on her unique sound which she has perfected over the years.  Celia has worked extensively in the studio and has also worked alongside a number of well known UK and international Reggae and Gospel artists; for example; Peter Spence, Skibu, Antonio, Owen Uriah, Bernard Taylor and Mr. Diamond. Showing her versatility she has worked with jazz legend Andy Hamilton his pianist Andy Pete and not forgetting Mr America himself Bobby Woods, all of whom speak highly of her.

Recently she has had the opportunity to work with international artists Barry Biggs (side show), Ken Boothe (Every Thing I Own), The Natural Ites – Ossie Gadd (Picture on the Wall), Janet Lee Davis and John McKlean.

Celia also works with a number of tribute bands, Steel Pulse tribute (Pulse Beat), Madness, Selector and specials tribute (Ultimate Madness). In between  the fast pace of the tributes she has her own show; Celia specialises in weddings, functions parties, restaurants, boat trips and hotels, singing Motown classics, Jazz, Blues, Pop and chart music. There is no event too big for Celia, you will not be disappointed. Celia has a backing band if required, a five piece up to a 10 piece band.

Celia has a bank of professional musicians she has worked with over the years at her disposal; from time to time the band is requested at larger venues for a bigger impact and that visual experience. The musicians are seasoned players who have travelled all over the world as backing musicians for numerous artists and are seen on the circuit regularly, the band consists of a bass guitarist, a drummer, a guitarist, a keyboard player, a saxophonist, a trumpet, a trombone and two or three backing vocals.
